This is Winter Bags, it is supposed to be cold! Temps are hard to forecast until the week of the event, so please pay attention for updates and dress accordingly. The Tournament has taken place in a blizzard, rain, sun and melting snow or all three… Elements do play a part in the tournament!

Seeding is based on two factors: If you played last year, and are registering the same team for this year, your record will be used for seeding this year. New teams are seeded based on when they register to the Winterbags website.

The boards are placed with a specific distance between them and should not be moved unless a reset is needed. Both teams should agree upon the reset placement. The carpet is marked for the front of each board set.

Before each match is played, Hot 100 is gently sipped, then the teams must decide who goes first, and which side of the board they will toss from. Any disputes should be settled by Rock, Paper, Scissors. Once sides are determined you may not switch sides of the boards to toss. 4 Bags are tossed per team, alternating, per round. The team that has scored last, tosses first each round. If an outside decision is needed, the Winterbags committee will make all disputes final.

Points are scored based on bags scoring 1 point for landing on the board and 3 points for bags that go in the hole. Only one team can score points each round, meaning bags will cancel out at the end of the round. The teams playing must keep track of their own score, scoring posts will be placed at each set. If your bag hits the ground first but still rolls onto the board, that point will count. If there is a bag partially touching the ground / hanging off the edge of the board, both teams will agree to raise the front edge of the board carefully and in unison to determine if the bag stays on the board. If it stays, it plays, if it falls off the point does not count. The boards all have the same specs and the bags are relatively similar, however you may find that you have a preference in boards or bags to throw as your team progresses through the tournament. We do let the bracket decide what match will be played (in order) and as a board set becomes open the next numbered match will be called to play on that set. If your team does not report within 10 minutes of being called you may forfeit the match (exceptions have been made here in case of a long line at the porta-potties or shower pictures being taken).

Each game is played to 21 without going over. If your team goes over 21 at the end of the round, your score drops to 11, and your team tosses first in the next round. Please pay attention in case an opponent goes over 21 and you still land a bag on the board, you could cancel out a point and end up losing!

Skunk Rule: If a team goes up over 11-0 the game has ended in a skunk. (You do not need to hit 11 exact, just shut out the opposing team).

Once the game has ended, please report the winning team and score to the master of ceremonies to advance the bracket. This is a double-elimination tournament, so play continues unless you lose twice.
